Romans 5:8

Romans 5:8

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

The Gospel path is a progression of understanding of the Gospel. This week’s verse helps us down that path by realizing that God did not leave us in our sin to face death, but shows us His love for us by taking our place in the person of His Son. God paid the price for us, and, while we were still sinners – rebelling against Him – Christ died for us.

Romans 5:7 (The preceding verse) illustrates this from an earthly concept.

For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die

Nobody would die for an evil person, and many men would hardly die for a good person, but God sent His Son to die for us while we were still in our sin and rebelling against Him – Imaging that!
He died for us while we still hated Him!
