John 14:1-14 (ESV) Verse 12

This week we will memorize verse 12 which contains a startling claim by Jesus.  In this passage Jesus tells his disciples that they will do greater works than He has done.  Jesus is not referring to physical miracles (although that is not ruled out) but He is referring to the conviction of sin, and the ministry of saving human souls.  In John Chapter 16 Jesus explains how this is possible through the arrival of the Holy Spirit.

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.
